INSTRUCTIONS FOR STORAGE, INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE OF FLUORO-LINED PIPING COMPONENTS.

  • ·  The faces of each end are protected by wooden plates so that the product is capable of withstanding normal handling during transport.

  • · Protective covers must not be removed until flanges are ready to be bolted into position otherwise sealing faces may get damaged or distorted. If covers are removed for inspection, they should be replaced immediately.

  • · Fluoro-lined pipes and fittings must be stored in a well ventilated warehouse.

  • · Keep away from all sources of flame/heat/corrosive vapors during storage.

  • · Gaskets are not required with fluoro-lined piping components except where they are connected to a flange face of another material such as metal, glass, reinforced plastic, ceramic, e.t.c.

  • · Bolts should be tightened using a proper “torque wrench”. Guidance tables available on request. “DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN”.

  • · Threads must be clean and well lubricated. Washers should be used to ensure correct torque. Bolts should be tightened alternately and evenly, following the sequence shown in the charts.

  • · If a flange leak occurs & the bolts of the leaking side have been properly tightened , they should not be tightened further as it may result in a permanent damage to the sealing surface. Instead, the bolts on the opposite side should be loosened a half turn at a time and then the bolts on the leaking side should be tightened by the same amount. If the leak persists , the bolts should be removed and the sealing surfaces should be examined for scratches or dents across the entire face that could produce a leak path. Any scratches or dents that do not exceed 20% of the liner thickness can be eliminated by hand polishing with a fine abrasive cloth or paper.

  • · If leakage occurs after the system has been cycled at an elevated temperature , it should be allowed to cool down to ambient temperature, to have a further inspection and maintenance.

  • · No welding , brazing , soldering or flame cutting which can permanently damage the FP Liner should be done close to the metal housings.

  • · No metal part of the pipe/fitting should be used for electrical earthing.

  • · Safety vent holes should at all times be kept open. Care should be taken , not to clog them with paint , cement ,e.t.c . The vent holes are essential to release gases that may be generated at elevated temperatures & trapped between the liner and the housing. If not vented , these gases may collapse the liner. Vent holes also serve as leakage indicators to ensure rapid repair.
